Dean Saunders has admitted he believes Billy Sharp will depart Doncaster Rovers in January.
Saunders remains hopeful of convincing the striker to remain at the Keepmoat but believes he faces a losing battle.
He said: “If I was being honest, I don’t think he’ll be here at the end of January.
“I hope he stays for obvious reasons – he’s scored ten goals in 16 games for me.”
Saunders confirmed a bid had been a rejected but would not name the interested club – reported elsewhere to be Leicester City.
He said: “We’ve had a bid that’s not been accepted.
“Anybody who scores goals is going to attract attention, I know I look at players in the leagues below.”
Southampton, Ipswich Town, Hull City, West Ham United and Wigan Athletic are among the clubs reportedly interested in Sharp.
