Rovers’ fans column: 2,000 set for Bury

Magic lives on: Oldham celebrate their cup win over Liverpool
Magic lives on: Oldham celebrate their cup win over Liverpool

It was not enjoyable not having a game last weekend, especially as Rovers are riding on a crest of the wave currently.

But people say the FA Cup has lost it’s magic, well the results last weekend, give all us minnows a glimmer of hope for the future.

Our conquerors Oldham knocked out Liverpool, and with MK Dons and Brentford having to fit extra games in, and hopefully their minds being elsewhere, it can be a bonus for us, if they take their eye off the ball in the league games.

But well done to them.

I hope Luton have better memories from the visit of Millwall, than their visit in the Seventies when serious violence errupted.

Tomorrow Rovers take on Kevin Blackwell’s Bury side that has not won since November, but we should not take things for granted, especailly as the playing surface is not the best.

We should have near on 2,000 fans making the journey, hoping that 13 is not our unlucky number, and Brian Flynn’s Barmy Army keeps on a marching up the league.

Currently we are on our sixth coach, with 10 buses in total so far making the trip.

As I write we have not strengthened the squad in the transfer window, but why rush as the loan window kicks in the week after.

We managed to scrape the points against the Shakers, earlier in the season, with a late and controversial winner, much to the annoyance of our former centre half Adam Lockwood.

Season tickets for next season are now on sale, and fans have until March 31 to get the early bird offer.

Already one fan Thomas Shelock has secured his season ticket for £18.79, in the incentive prize scheme the club offers.

There are easy payment options this season, but if you want to save as much or as little as you want during the season to pay for your ticket, call in at the Supporters Club shop for more details.

Supporters Club handbooks are now available for collection and are free to members.

Bus times are Retford 10.45, Harworth 10.50, Bawtry/Rossington 11.00, Hare and Tortoise/ Ivanhoe Sprotborough 11.05, Infirmary 11.15 and Car Park One Keepmoat 11.30.

I will put the bus lists up in the bike shelters so you can check which coaches you are on.

Its now more vital than ever that we back the team. Let us act as the twelth man.#

If you can’t get to the game you can listen in on Rovers Players which is just £18.99 for the rest of the season, and brings you coverage of all Rovers games, plus all the interviews from the club.

And don’t forget our full match report in the Green Un.
