But in between all the hullabaloo over Billy Sharp’s future, Rovers came up with as good a team performance as they have produced all season.
It is very rare for a goalless draw to have a home crowd on its feet at the final whistle.
This was an exception.
It was a display that made a mockery of where Rovers find themselves in the Championship table, and it was one that defied any suggestion of a dressing room split.
