Rob Jones has relinquished his duties with the club’s Unders-21s team to concentrate on first team matters.
Jones picked the team for yesterday’s U21s Premier League Cup win over Preston North End and watched on from the press box.
But he confirmed today he has handed over the running of the team to youth team manager Paul Stancliffe and head of youth Paul Wilson - for the duration of his interim period as caretaker boss.
Jones said: “While I’m doing what I’m doing I need to focus one hundred per cent on first team duties.
“Paul Stancliffe and Paul Wilson will look after the Under 21s until the point it changes, or it may not change.
“Right now my focus is one hundred per cent on first team matters.
“It takes a little bit of pressure off me to be honest,” he added.
“I had the first team lads on Monday and Tuesday. I would’ve had to have had the youth players and fringe players on Tuesday too. I can’t be everywhere.”
Jones was asked again if he will be making himself available for selection during his period in charge.
“I’m always available,” he laughed.
“I might pick myself or I might not pick myself.
Like he did last Thursday, Jones again refused to reveal whether he would be applying for the vacant managerial position.
“I’m sat in the seat. End of story,” he said.
