Paul Goodwin gives his verdict on the individual displays in Doncaster Rovers’ hard earned win over Luton Town.
Marko Marosi 6
His handling was solid throughout and he also punched well when under pressure. Good save from Grant’s free-kick.
Niall Mason 7
Concentrated on doing the simple things well. A really consistent performer so far this season.
Joe Wright 7
Another impressive display from the young centre back. Won key headers all afternoon.
Andy Butler 6
Stood up to the physicality of Collins and made several important clearances.
Danny Andrew 7
Gave the side nice balance, showed excellent composure on the ball and got forward to good effect.
Herbie Kane 6
Typically busy in midfield but not quite up to his usually very high standard. Faded after a bright start.
Ben Whiteman 7
Took his goal very well and showed plenty of endeavour in the engine room. He’s stepped up to the plate in that central position.
Matty Blair 8
Scored an absolute beauty and put a serious shift in for the team. Kept the ball well too.
James Coppinger 6
Neat and tidy without really penetrating in the final third. Switched to tip of diamond in second half and found more space.
Mallik Wilks 5
Went close with a second half curler but struggled to make any real impression on the game.
John Marquis 6
Worked as hard as ever but didn’t quite have the rub of the green and gave the ball away a few times.
ALFIE MAY 6
Positive impact from the bench. Ran the channels, caused problems and harried defenders.
JERMAINE ANDERSON 6
Did more in 15 minutes than he did for an hour against Blackpool. Got into good advanced areas and covered plenty of ground.
PAUL TAYLOR N/A
Replaced Coppinger for the last ten minutes – not enough to really get into the game.
