Paul Goodwin assesses the individual performances in Saturday’s goalless draw at the Keepmoat Stadium.
MARKO MAROSI 8
Excellent performance - and took one for the team with his red card. He made three crucial second half saves.
NIALL MASON 7
Went about his defensive duties impressively and got to the by-line a few times too.
JOE WRIGHT 8
Continued his fine start to the season with another assured performance. Read the game very well.
ANDY BUTLER 7
Won his headers and mopped things up. Might have made more of his first half chance.
DANNY ANDREW 6
Really calm and composed on the ball but did not get forward as much as Mason.
HERBIE KANE 8
Another energetic, dynamic display in the engine room. This lad really is a brilliant find.
BEN WHITEMAN 7
Helped set the tempo with some accurate, purposeful passing. Credit to him for taking the goalie gloves - and looking the part!
MATTY BLAIR 7
Put forward his case for a regular starting spot with a confident display. Found space and produced some impressive surging runs.
ALFIE MAY 6
Looked eager to impress. Worked very hard out of possession but his touch often let him down.
JOHN MARQUIS 6
Got through plenty of the ugly stuff but offered little goal threat.
MALLIK WILKS 5
This was the Leeds loanee’s least effective performance yet. He remained on the fringe of the game and rarely threatened.
JAMES COPPINGER 5
Composed as ever on the ball but unable to unlock Pompey’s back-line.
TOMMY ROWE 5
Got into some dangerous positions high up the pitch.
ALEX KIWOMYA N/A
Marosi’s sending off reined him in slightly.
