We’re on a little bit of a dodgy run right now at Doncaster Rovers and there is no getting away from that.
Losing the last two matches has seen us drop from sixth to tenth in League One, four points off that last play-off position.
Inevitably, fingers have been pointed and we’re all getting a bit of stick from certain quarters.
I understand that people are disappointed. But all I can say is, it is far from over for us.
There are nine games left and 27 points to play for. There is a hell of a long way to go.
The message I am sending to my players is quite simple: you have nothing to lose.
The last thing that we want is to get to the end of the season and be disappointed about how we finished things.
I’ve spoken to them as a group and individually and repeatedly said one thing: have no regrets come May 3.
Go out in every game and give it everything you can. If it’s not quite to be then no one can point any fingers.
Go out and do your best. Play at your best and to the levels we know we can.
People will think I’m stupid when I say that I don’t think that we’re very far away from where we need to be.
We showed at times against Swindon on Tuesday night just how good a team we are.
It sounds strange with us having conceded seven goals in the last four games but we are actually defending really well as a unit.
It has been individual errors that have cost us and meant that we have not taken what we were due from games. Whether it is nerves or a lack of concentration, I’m not entirely sure. But what I do know is that we must cut it out if we are going to finish the season well.
And if we do cut the little things out, the bigger picture when it comes to this group of players will see us through.
Three weeks ago we were on a great run that put us in the position as serious contenders for the top six.
And I believe we are still serious contenders.
The players, the group, the individuals are all capable of getting us back up there.
I am really confident that if the players do as I ask in giving their all and playing as they can, that we will be right in the mix at the end of the season.
