Donny aren’t going to Norwich just for the day out, says Sky television pundit Kamara

POPULAR pundit Chris Kamara has backed Dean Saunders to turn around Doncaster Rovers’ fortunes - and has warned Norwich City not to expect an easy ride in tonight’s Capital One Cup tie at Carrow Road.

Kamara recently embarked upon a nationwide publicity tour for the League Cup.

He says the competition has now increased in importance for clubs like Doncaster in the lower reaches of the Football League - and the economic climate will give them extra incentive to cause an upset in East Anglia.

“For all the clubs like Doncaster in the third round they’ll be thinking about the economic situation and what a tie in the next round against Arsenal or Manchester United could bring,” said Kamara

“There are so many clubs that are on their backsides at the minute who will be desperate for a big tie whether it be at home or away as a big home game could attract the TV cameras and bring a lot of money.”

Kamara, meanwhile, has backed Saunders to turn Rovers’ fortunes around after last season’s relegation from the Championship.

“It’s not easy for Doncaster this year because obviously they brought in a lot of players last year who are not there now,” he said.

“That means that Dean is going to have to manage like he did when he was at Wrexham and build a team up and try and get them back into the Championship.

“He did well at Wrexham when he had to manage in that style and hopefully he can do the same this year and they can have a good season.”
