Doncaster Rovers: We’ll frighten defences warns Dickov

Rovers’ new strike force will cause problems for most sides they come up against this season according to Paul Dickov.

Curtis Main and Nathan Tyson were added to the squad this week while Alex Peterson agreed a new deal.

With Theo Robinson, plus attack-minded midfielders James Coppinger, Harry Forester and Kyle Bennett, Dickov believes Rovers’ attack will be feared this season.

“However we line up this season, defenders are not going to like it,” Dickov said. “Especially because they know there will be more to come off the bench.

“We believe with the business we’ve done we’re going to create problems for a lot of teams.

“I stressed it a lot last year that we needed pace and mobility in the team.

“We’ve got a lot of power, pace and quality going forward.

“And we’ve also got plenty of options. In the games so far we’ve played 4-2-3-1 and 4-4-2 but we’ve been working on different things.

“With the strikers we’ve got and then adding Forrester, Coppinger and Bennett to that, we can change the system quite fluently,

“Theo and Tyson can play out wide. Harry, Copps and Kyle can all play in the hole and Curtis can play as a lone striker. There’s options with them all beyond their usual position.

“What we’ve also got is competition for places which is never a bad thing.”

Rovers welcome newly-promoted Championship side Rotherham United to the Keepmoat today (3pm).

Skipper Rob Jones is set to play at least 45 minutes as he continues his recovery from a serious neck issue.
