A conclusion to takeover negotiations with John Ryan and pop star Louis Tomlinson could be imminent, the Free Press understands.

The pair’s proposed deal is believed to be at a very advanced stage and could be resolved - one way or another - within days.

Rovers have already stated they want a “swift resolution” to talks.

The intricacies of the deal on the table are not yet known.

But, should it get the green light, it will almost certainly see Ryan’s fellow major shareholders, Terry Bramall and Dick Watson, bought out.

Bramall has previously stated he is relaxed about the prospect of either staying or selling his 23 per cent share in the club.

Last November, following Ryan’s shock resignation as chairman and negotiations with Sequentia Capital, Bramall said: “Either we are presented with a deal we are prepared to accept or we carry on as we are. I’m quite happy with either option.

“I’m happy with the first option as long as there are reasonable terms that are good for the club and for ourselves.”

Watson underwent heart surgery last month.

His family are thought to be keen on him taking a back seat from football to concentrate on his health.
