Darren Ferguson says there is ‘slim chance’ Doncaster Rovers will make any further signings before the transfer window closes.
Revealing nothing has yet been agreed with Chelsea regarding a potential loan return for Jordan Houghton, Ferguson says he is unable to see anyone affordable in the transfer market who would improve the Rovers squad.
“I would probably say it’s a slim chance of any other players coming in,” Ferguson told the Free Press.
“There is a possibility with Jordan but we need to continue to talk to Chelsea.
“After that, with what I’ve got available, I don’t think there is going to be anything that’s really going to improve the squad.
“So it’d be pointless.”
Rovers’ matchday squad looked much more healthy at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday with Tyler Garratt the only ‘young’ player among the substitutes.
With Luke McCullough and Mathieu Baudry both set to return inside the next two months, Ferguson is confident he has enough depth within his ranks.
He said: “It’s the ones that aren’t on the bench that give you the depth of the squad.
“If those three were fit, three other players might not be in the 18 or they might not even be in themselves.
“I think we’re not bad actually.”
