Doncaster Rovers: McCann unsure what to expect against Bristol Rovers

Grant McCann admits he does not know what to expect from Saturday's hosts Bristol Rovers, such is the unpredictability of the approach of boss Darrell Clarke.

Rovers head to the Memorial Ground on Saturday in search of a fifth win in a six game run while the home side are looking to end a run of five consecutive defeats.

While confident Rovers can take the win this weekend, McCann says Bristol Rovers should not be written off

'To be honest with you, I don't really know what to expect,' McCann told the Free Press.

'They've chopped and changed their shape, their personnel.

'They haven't had the best of starts.

'It's a game where it's an old fashioned stadium.

'It's always a tough game, the atmosphere is always really good, they've got a really loyal support and they fill the stadium most weeks. So it's a difficult game.

'It's another game we think we can go and win to keep up this run

'It's not going to be easy so we need to make sure we stick to our gameplan, what we do this week in training and see if we can get the three points.'

While the pitch at the Memorial Stadium has been somewhat of an issue in recent years, McCann does not believe it will be a factor on Saturday.

I've watched a few of their games and their pitch looks in good condition,' he said.

'I think gone are the days when at this time of the year you're worrying about pitches.

'Most teams in this league have got good surfaces.

'That won't be an excuses. The pitches are all pretty much on an even keel in this league.

'We've shown we can play on any pitch but I don't want to be talking about surfaces.

'At the end of the day, it is what it is. It's the same for both teams.

'The pitches will be all the same in this league.

'Some of them have got the Desso turf like we have and it holds firm a little bit further.'
