Doncaster Rovers hope to get in the winning habit ahead of next month’s derby with Rotherham United.

Rovers host Scunthorpe United tonight in their final Checkatrade Trophy group game - with both sides already through to the knockout round.

They travel to National League side Ebbsfleet United in the FA Cup on Saturday.

Assistant boss Gavin Strachan, pictured, said: “Result is always the be-all-and-end-all. However, if we didn’t get the right result [tonight] we’ve had a lot of positive performances so that would be the next best thing.

“Winning breeds confidence. We’ve not got another league game until Rotherham (Nov 11) so it was great to get that win [at Bury] on Saturday.

“Winning is everything, whether that be in the league, the Checkatrade Trophy or the FA Cup, so if we could go into that Rotherham game on the back of two more wins that’d be Plan A.”
