Paul Dickov described Rovers’ defeat at Watford as sickening after a last gasp penalty earned all three points for the hosts.
Dickov claimed video footage showed winger Daniel Pudil was outside the box when James Husband lunged in three minutes from time. “I’ve seen the linesman flag for a foul but at no point was he going to give the penalty,” Dickov said. “He was right in line with it and he hasn’t given it so how the referee can is a mystery to me. The one thing I don’t mind is getting beat but getting beat like that is sickening.
“I’m not saying Watford weren’t the better team for large parts. But we defended for our lives out there in the second half. There were loads of positives. We created so many chances against a side that will be up there at the end of the season. I feel sorry for are the fans that have made the trip down here.”
Watford boss Gianfranco Zola said: “Sometimes decisions go for you - sometimes against you.
“It’s gone for us tonight. It looked just inside the line to me but maybe that’s just my eyesight.”
