DONCASTER Rovers Belles bowed out of the FA Cup at the first hurdle after they lost 2-0 to Bristol Academy at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Yesterday’s fifth round tie - watched by a crowd of just 152 - was Belles’ first competitive game of the season.

But Doncaster’s interest in the FA Cup, the final of which will be played at the Keepmoat, ended abruptly against a well-organised Bristol side.

Corinne Yorston broke the deadlock in the first half when she curled in a sublime effort from the edge of the area.

Belles started the second half brightly with the ever-willing Jess Sigsworth and Millie Bright ruffling a few Bristol feathers.

But the Academy held firm and doubled their lead when Ann-Marie Heatherson netted from close range.
