AUDIO: We’re fired up for a Royal rumble - Rovers chief Dickov

Paul Dickov insists his players will have fire in their bellies knowing a win against Reading could see them survive the Championship drop.

Rovers currently sit in 19th - one point above Blackpool who occupy a spot in the relegation zone.

If Pool lose to Wigan on Saturday and Rovers prove victorious against the Royals, Dickov’s Doncaster side will have secured Championship safety.

But the Rovers chief is under no illusion as to the difficult of the task at the Keepmoat against Nigel Adkins’ Reading whose play-off hopes are still alive.

“We have shown that, when we play against these sorts of clubs at home like Leicester, QPR, Wigan, that we can rise to the occasion,” said Dickov.

“Our fans will be backing us, there will be a big crowd and there will be a massive desire for us to win the game.

“We know it’ll be a tough game but it’s a game we know we can compete in and try and get the win that is going to help us get over the line.

He went on: “It’s a massive game.

“It’s a game that we’re going into with fire in our bellies but with cool heads and that starts with me.

“I know and I believe that if we play the way we can, we’re more than a match for anybody. That’s what we’re hoping for on Saturday.

“The players have taken a lot of confidence - albeit only being a point [on Monday against Millwall] - out of the determined performance they put in the other day.

“If we get more of the same, then we’ll have a good chance.”
