AUDIO: Dickov refuses to prioritise upturn in Doncaster Rovers’ away form

Rovers may have won only once on their travels this term but Paul Dickov refuses to put more emphasis on improving away form.

The 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday in October is Rovers’ solitary away triumph this season.

That is a statistic they will be hoping changes after tomorrow’s crunch relegation clash at Yeovil.

But Dickov’s insists his side must concentrate on maintaining their recent run of good form.

He says they have to think about that rather than concerning themselves with the number in the away win column.

“We need to continue to do what we have over the last six games, which is pick up points,” Dickov said.

“If we do that, as we’ve seen over the last four weeks, we’ll pull ourselves away.

“It’s not just away but at home as well.

“It was only four weeks ago that we were sitting in the bottom three.

“But we put together a run of results by playing well and being resolute without the ball and we’ve picked up points. We’ve found ourselves pulling away and putting a bit of a gap in there.”

Despite their poor record, Rovers have consistently performed well on the road.

Dickov believes errors at key moments have cost them but has backed his side to cut out mistakes. He said: “If you look back at a lot of the games, it’s defining moments that have cost us. QPR and Blackburn away come to mind.

“We feel with the experience we’ve got in the team now, that we can cut those little mistakes out, particularly away from home.”
