The veteran has been sidelined since the beginning of January after suffering a calf injury in the warm-up prior to the FA Cup tie at Blackburn Rovers.

Coppinger has commenced fitness work at Cantley Park and Moore is hopeful it will not be too long before he is back in full training.

“Copps is back out doing running now so it’s really just him making sure he doesn’t get any reactions with it,” the Rovers boss said.

“We don’t imagine that he’ll be too far away and it’s good to see him back on the grass doing his own individual work.”

Josh Sims trained with Rovers on Thursday for the first time since rejoining the club on loan.

Sims has gone straight into full training after completing the rehabilitation on his hamstring injury at parent club Southampton.

“It was a full session for him which is great for him,” Moore said.

“We’ve just got him back in so let’s not put too much on him too soon.

“Let’s get him integrated back in and get him some real training under his belt, as well as that body contact that you get with being in with other players.

“We’ll monitor him over the next few days to see how he responds.”

Moore confirmed John Bostock is edging closer to making his Rovers debut after ramping up the work to get him match fit this week.

And he feels a sense of relief that the injury situation at the club is easing as Rovers head into a intensive period of 15 games in seven weeks.

“Going into this next volume of games, we’d have liked to have had them now,” he said. “But we have to try to build them over the next couple of weeks.

“My aim now will be to not lose anyone and get everyone fit.

“I think that will be over the course of the next two weeks.

“We still have a lot of work to do with them and we won’t get ahead of ourselves.

“If we can get them back in that’ll be really good for us and the squad will look healthier in managing the demands of what’s to come.”
