There is currently no clear picture of how the 2019/20 campaign will be resolved with no certainty that competitive football will resume after the current shutdown until the weekend of April 4.

Various potential outcomes have been suggested including declaring the season null and void.

But Baldwin says the preferred method from Rovers’ perspective will be completing the campaign.

“At this stage, we know there is a goodwill to finish the season, which we actively support.

“We know in theory the first game back is Tranmere Rovers on April 4. However, we understand it’s a moveable feast.

“We will continue to be engaged with the EFL, who have engaged well and communicated at every stage. We will continue to share the communications with our fans.”

The EFL are set to meet on Wednesday to discuss plans for its three divisions but insists there has been no decisions taken over how the season will be resolved.

Baldwin says the EFL are keen to only speak publicly when they have significant updates.

“We had a communication from the EFL to say they will be meeting later this week,” he said.

“They have said, and I totally understand this, they cannot comment every time there is a small development or there is a rumour and they would prefer to communicate at the end of the week to say ‘this is what’s happening going forward.’”
