The on loan Arsenal striker was left out of the friendly between England U20 and Wales U19 at St George’s Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Moore had been informed that the 19-year-old had suffered ‘a knock’ in training with the group, who are managed by Lee Carsley.

But he was awaiting the opportunity to speak to the former Everton midfielder for a diagnosis on John-Jules’ injury.

“We’ve not had anything confirmed yet but we think he’s got a little knock,” Moore told the Free Press.

“Because it’s a friendly match, I think they’ve pulled him out for precautionary reasons.

“I’ve got to find out what it is. I’ll give Lee a ring to find out what it is.

“I’m hoping it’s nothing too bad, coming into this stage with the round of games we’ve got coming up from this Saturday on.

“We’ll find out what it is and take it from there.”

Moore has had better news back at Cantley Park with Reece James and Jason Lokilo both having returned to full training.

James suffered a knee injury in the defeat at Wigan while Lokilo picked up a hamstring strain in the win over Bristol Rovers.

“Reece is back in training and Jason is too,” Moore said.

“It’s good to have them back in and around it. They’re two prominent figures that it’s always nice to see on the training pitch.”

On whether the pair will be available for Saturday’s trip to Portsmouth, Moore says he will assess them in detail and act with caution as Rovers begin a run of nine games in 28 days.

“They’ve both got a chance but we just have to see how they go,” he said.

“At the end of the day, you have to remember what is coming.

“We want them for the weekend and they’ve trained well over the last couple of days.

“You look for a reaction after two solid days. You get them back in and see how they are.

“It’s day by day with them.”
