Rovers were keen to land a new head of talent identification sharing many of the same attributes as Henshall, with use of analytics high on the agenda.

Henshall completed his final day with Rovers on Friday as he prepares to join Villa as head of emerging talents and loan.

He was involved in the interview process that led to the appointment of his successor.
