Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford United, Portsmouth and Fleetwood Town will contest the play-offs for the final promotion place.

Earlier in the day clubs from across the EFL had agreed to back the organising body’s proposal for how to decide the outcome of the season should no further regular season matches be played.

This included placings being decided on a points per game calculation with automatic promotion, relegation and a four-team play-off campaign taking place in each division as normal.

A statement from the EFL read: “League One Clubs have voted by an overwhelming majority to formally end the 2019/20 season.

“As a result, the final League standings have now been confirmed meaning that Coventry City have been confirmed as Champions with Rotherham United securing the second automatic promotion place to the Championship.

“Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford United, Portsmouth and Fleetwood Town will contest the Sky Bet Play-Offs with the schedule to be announced in due course, while Tranmere Rovers, Southend United and Bolton Wanderers will start the 2020/21 season in League Two.”

League Two clubs voted overwhelmingly to curtail the fourth tier campaign. It is understood only Forest Green Rovers voted to continue.

It means that Swindon Town – managed by former Rovers midfielder Richie Wellens – are promoted to League One as champions. Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle also receive automatic promotion.
