Doncaster Rovers loanee Matt Smith gets Wales nod for Euro 2020
Matt Smith, who spent last season on loan at Doncaster Rovers, has been named in the Wales squad for the delayed European Championships.
The midfielder was one of Rovers’ stand-out players throughout the campaign and was consistently called up for Wales duty during his time on loan from Manchester City.
Smith won two caps while with Rovers, including a starring role in a friendly with Mexico earlier this year. He now has 13 caps in total and will be hoping to add to that as Rob Page's look to match the phenomenal run to the semi-finals in the last Euros.
The 21-year-old made 43 appearances for Rovers last season, scoring one goal and making seven assists.
Wales have been drawn alongside Switzerland, Italy and Turkey in their group at the Euros, which are being played a year late due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
