Doncaster Rovers hoping for long term benefit from ten day working break

The Rovers boss has drilled his players in his methodology over the last seven days as he looks to right the wrongs that led to back-to-back defeats prior to the international break.

And he hopes that work will be carried into the incredibly busy period to follow, with Saturday’s game against Portsmouth the first of nine in just 28 days, meaning there will be little time for work on the training ground for some time.

“It’s been about the messages and work we’ve got into them,” he told the Free Press.

“From a mental point of view it’s about keeping stimulating in them that they can keep doing it because after this week there will be minimal time to work on that over a sustained period.

“It’s been really good to work this week.

“It’s been really good. We’ve got some real good work in and out of possession of the ball.

“The boys have been a breath of fresh air with their work rate and commitment.”

Rovers will welcome back their four players that have been away on international duty on Thursday morning in Josef Bursik, Tyreece John-Jules, Danny Amos and Liam Ravenhill.

John-Jules in particular will be assessed after suffering an injury during his training camp with England U20s.“We’ll be able to assess the group on Thursday with all the internationals back in, the couple of lads back from injury and we’ll work from there,” Moore said.
