Current plans will see a limited number of fans permitted back into grounds from October 1 as football begins to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

And Rovers will welcome Shrewsbury Town to the Keepmoat on October 10, on what would be a memorable occasion for supporters who will have not seen their team play in person since March 7.

The team Rovers visited on that date, MK Dons, will provide the first opposition of the new campaign when they visit the Keepmoat Stadium on September 12.

Rovers will then visit freshly relegated Charlton Athletic on September 19 and then round off the first month of the season - which will feature the first four rounds of the Carabao Cup - by hosting Bristol Rovers on September 26.

The season will be concluded on home soil as Rovers host Peterborough United on May 8, having completed their away campaign a week earlier at Rochdale.

Boxing Day will see Rovers host Accrington Stanley, with a trip to Fleetwood Town on December 29. They will visit Peterborough on January 2.
