The pacy forward pulled up in training in the second half of the week and was unable to feature in the League One clash.

“I hope it’s been a fatigue injury that he picked up yesterday in training,” boss Darren Moore said.

“It was a little strain of his hamstring so we’ll assess him.

“It was one of those games that we couldn’t risk him in. I can’t risk losing him on the eve of the busy period. Our squad is short already.

“So when these injuries come, if it means losing them over a week or two, so be it, rather than risking losing them over six or seven. That would be a huge damaging blow for us.

“It’s easy for me in those situations to take him out and see what we’ve got.

“Alfie May came in and did well and then Max Watters came in to see the game out.”

Goalkeeper Ian Lawlor suffered a shoulder injury in the Leasing.com Trophy defeat to Leicester City, ruling him out of action and sparking Rovers into recalling Louis Jones from his loan at National League side Yeovil Town.
