Doncaster Rovers CEO confirms 'extra measures' for supporters for AFC Wimbledon clash

Doncaster Rovers chief executive Gavin Baldwin says extra precautionary measures will be put in place at the Keepmoat after it was confirmed Saturday’s clash with AFC Wimbledon will take place as planned.

There had been suggestions that the EFL would call for all games to take place behind closed doors or postponed entirely as the spread of coronavirus continues.

But following latest government advice, the EFL and the Premier League have elected to allow matches to take place this weekend under normal circumstances.

Rovers are set to announce details of the additional measures at the Keepmoat this weekend, which are expected to include points where supporters can access hand sanitiser.

Chief executive Baldwin confirmed otherwise planning is taking place as normal for Saturday’s fixture.

Baldwin said: “Senior staff here at Club Doncaster have been planning for every eventuality and, following the government's latest announcement that sporting fixtures will not be postponed at this stage, we are continuing to prepare for Saturday's fixture against AFC Wimbledon.

“Our absolute priority is protecting the health and wellbeing of our employees, supporters and communities and at Saturday's fixture extra measures are being out in place to help individuals maintain hygienic practices.

“These will be released as part of our standard pre-match itinerary on Friday."

The club have also urged supporters with persistent coughs and symptoms of a fever to stay away from the Keepmoat this weekend, based on advice from Public Health England.
