Doncaster Rovers boss happy with win over Bristol Rovers - but he wanted Moore

It was a performance and result to be pleased about for Doncaster Rovers but Darren Moore was not at all apologetic for having a gripe at the final whistle.

Rovers triumphed 4-1 against Bristol Rovers with Joe Wright, Madger Gomes, Taylor Richards and Jon Taylor all on the scoresheet at the Keepmoat.

But the Rovers boss felt the scoreline should have been even wider, had his players shown a more ruthless edge.

"I think it should have been more," Moore said. "My message to the players was while I'm delighted with the three points we could have been ruthless when we got in the opposition area.

"It's something for us to look at as we move forward.

"I am pleased with the three points though. It was a funny match but one where we had to stay at it throughout.

“We got into those chances. If I was sitting here and there weren’t the chances, that’s where I would worry.

“I feel that we’ve got the players here that if those chances keep coming then we’ll finish those chances.

“It’s probably a mindset thing more than anything in terms of when those chances do come, then it’s taking them.

“I was really pleased with the performance, the chances we created and obviously getting the three points.

Rovers always had the edge in the game despite strong attention from a Bristol Rovers side who pressed hard and showed real physicality throughout.

The hosts used the ball well, particularly in the Bristol Rovers half and crafted multiple opportunities.

And Moore felt they particularly took control after the break.

"It was a frantic game at times, end to end but when the chances came we took them to get the valuable win," Moore said.

"It was a bitty game in spells but once we settled down, particularly in the second half when we got the patterns going.

"Credit to Bristol Rovers, they made it difficult for us and changed their shape and system for the first time this season.

"We had to fight hard for it today and got the three points."
