Doncaster Rovers boss on dealing with seven loanees

Darren Moore is confident having seven loanees in his Doncaster Rovers squad will not be an issue - because there will be more than enough games to go around.

The signing of Scott Robertson on loan from Celtic last week took Rovers to seven loanees, with only five permitted in any one matchday squad.

The issue is not currently too pressing due to a long term injury to Tyreece John-Jules, while Josh Sims is a couple of weeks away from a return.

But Moore says the intense schedule facing Rovers - with 15 games in seven weeks - will mean there will be plenty of scope for rotation, and a need for it.

“I don’t see any problem with it at all due to the volume of games,” he said.

“I think it’s easy to manage because the games are going to dictate it.

“With Tyreece being out for a while and Josh still has to come back in, it's not something we need to worry about.

“And even when they’re all back, it’s not something we need to worry about I don’t think because the games will be there for us.

“All the loanees see it and recognise it too.”

Moore has been grateful to have a rare blank midweek to work with, although the snow in Doncaster earlier this week forced a change to the training schedule he had planned.

And he hopes his players have received sufficient rest and recovery to prepare them for the intense period to follow.

“After the weekend it kicks in and we’re well into it,” he said.

“Hopefully over the next couple of weeks we don’t get any more hiccups and we can get a few more bodies back to ease the burden a little bit more as those fixtures come in.

“There was one or two bending and breaking but we managed to get through it.

“We’ve had some time this week to recuperate a bit and we get back into the schedule again.

“The next break is towards the end of March when there’s an international break.

“It just will dictate where we’re at with the games.

“We’re just on the crest, ready to start it and the next two months will be full on.”
