Head coach Shaw was absent from Belles’ last two games – which saw them end a miserable seven-game losing streak.

Shaw was appointed in the summer of 2018 but, following the club’s withdrawal from the FA Women’s Championship for financial reasons, could not prevent a young and inexperienced team from being relegated from the FAWNL Northern Premier Division.

Belles, who were taken over by Cub Doncaster last summer, currently lie third bottom in FAWNL Division One Midlands – the fourth tier of the women’s game.

They lost seven consecutive games – conceding 34 goals in the process – prior to a 1-0 County Cup win over AFC Doncaster and 3-3 draw at fifth-placed The New Saints last month.

Assistant manager Dav Doone has been in charge of team affairs during Shaw’s absence.

A club statement read: “Doncaster Rovers Belles can confirm that head coach Zoey Shaw has left her role at the club by mutual consent.

“The club would like to place on record their thanks for all the hard work Zoey has done during what has been a difficult spell in the Belles’ history and wish her all the best for the future.

“The board intends to start the recruitment process for the new football manager immediately.”
