Doncaster Rovers: 'To lose in those circumstances, you're always disappointed' - Darren Moore on defeat at Wycombe Wanderers

Rovers played almost the full second half against the League One leaders with ten men after Tom Anderson was sent off for a lunging challenge.

And they held on until the final minute when Wycombe were awarded a penalty which Joe Jacobson dispatched to take his side five points clear at the top of the table.

Though Rovers were not at their best in possession, boss Moore said his overriding feeling was disappointment that they came away empty handed.

“The players are really down and disappointed that they’ve not come here and get the result they were looking for,” Moore said.

“To lose the game in those circumstances, you’re always disappointed.

“The thing that buoys me is the character, the energy and the commitment shown by the players.

“The disappointment they have after the game having come to the league leaders and put in a performance that we did today.

“But to lose the game in that manner is a bitter pill to swallow. We take the positives and move on.

“Take nothing away from Wycombe – they are relentless in what they do. They’re at the top of the table because they are relentless in that pursuit.

“What they do has got them to where they are now and they will stay there for it.

“For 80-odd minutes we were very good today. We limited them to very few chances on goal.

“Listening to the bench at the side of me they were very concerned about the way we were going about it today.

“Credit to the boys but we’ve got to look back at it and say what small margins do we need to do better to get a result.

“We dealt with what we knew was coming. But the fine small details where we need to get better, that’s where we have to improve.”
