Doncaster Rovers 1 Accrington Stanley 1: Lack of ruthlessness costs Rovers as they are pegged back for a draw

Rovers had deservedly lead through Jon Taylor’s strike early in the second half and looked the side most likely to grab the next goal.

But it was the visitors who did just that with substitute Offrande Zanzala poking in a scrappy effort to snatch a point in the final ten minutes.

It means Rovers are without a win in five in League One and have won just once in their last ten matches in all competitions.

Darren Moore made three changes to his side with one enforced as Ben Whiteman missed out with a knee injury. Rakish Bingham and Donervon Daniels both dropped to the bench with Tom Anderson, Madger Gomes and Jon Taylor recalled to the starting XI

The first half proved an open affair with both sides lacking the desired quality in the final third.

Rovers enjoyed the better possession for long periods and produced some good play through midfield but attacks broke down far too easily too often.

Tom Anderson latched onto a lofted ball over the defence from James Coppinger but failed to finish while Jordan Clark scuffed a header wide at the other end.

Rovers emerged the stronger for the second period and took the lead 12 minutes into the half.

Gomes made two big tackles in his own half before sliding through a superb ball for Taylor to latch onto. He powered into the box and finished confidently into the bottom corner.

Rovers looked the more likely to add to their score but struggled to make the pressure count.

And they were hit eight minutes from time.

Accrington delivered a corner in which bounced around the box before being turned home by Zanzala.

Rakish Bingham spurned a glorious chance to put Rovers back in front late in the game but miscued a free header.

And Seny Dieng produced a brilliant save to deny Seamus Conneely at the other end to ensure the game finished all-square.
