Darren Moore's pride as Doncaster Rovers step-up during crisis

Darren Moore declared himself proud of the measures put in place by Doncaster Rovers to help the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Staff at the club, along with their Club Doncaster colleagues, are set to begin making phone calls to supporters and other people in the borough to help ensure they do not feel alone during isolation and social distancing.

Moore, his coaching staff and players will also be involved, making calls from their own homes - which is something the Rovers boss is proud to be a part of.

“I absolutely endorse it,” he said.

“When I came in at the start I said how impressed I was with the work the club does and how important it is in the community.

“Who would have foreseen what was coming?

“But what the club is looking to do epitomises what it is all about.

“We’re a community club, we’re a club that engages the community and we’re really proud of that.

“It’s no surprise to me the club is doing what it’s doing. Engaging with the community at this time is vital.

“I would imagine the community see the club as a hub and a special landmark in the community. It’s something for people to look to.

“Anything we can do as a club to help and support the community through this situation, we will do so.

“The club needs the community and the community needs the club. It works both ways.”
