It did not take words from Darren Moore to declare that everyone at Doncaster Rovers was delighted to see Fejiri Okenabirhie find the net in the win over Ipswich Town.

A huge roar from the Rovers bench when his fine strike flew home was more than enough of an indication.

The striker’s goal capped a tireless performance where he acted as a focal point for the side and did much more holding the ball up and battling with the Ipswich defenders than he did getting shots away.

And Moore said the contribution made by Okenabirhie throughout the 90 minutes was exactly why all at the club were pleased to see him score his first league goal of the campaign.

“He was huge and I think in the second half he got even stronger,” Moore told the Free Press.

“He gave us an out, holding the ball up and he gave us that respite we needed to get up the pitch.

“I’m really pleased for him because sometimes you can feel that you’re working, working, working and not getting your own rewards.

“But I always feel that if he gets a chance then Fej is more than capable of sticking the ball in the back of the net and he got that.

“He steadied himself, got a clean strike away and I’m really pleased for him.

“He’s come back and worked tirelessly hard. It’s alway nice when someone is putting in all that hard work for the team and all strikers want to score goals.

“It’s great that he got on the scoresheet.”
