Darren Moore on whether Doncaster Rovers have a point to prove on Gillingham return

Darren Moore has dismissed suggestions Doncaster Rovers ‘owe Gillingham one’ as they return to the Priestfield Stadium for the second time this season.

Rovers were comfortably beaten 3-0 by the Gills in Kent in the FA Cup after one of the most disappointing performances of the campaign.

Moore insists Rovers are a much-changed outfit as they head back to the Priestfield on Saturday - and says Gillingham are too.

“It was a cup match down there and they were just stronger and more powerful on the day,” Moore said.

“We had a system change at the time and we were looking at implementing things different to where it is.

“Both teams are in different form now. They’re in good form, we’re in good form.

“Both teams clash heads again in terms of going up against each other in the league.

“And both teams are more or less evenly matched in the league table.

“It’s going to be a good game, a tough game between two teams with different philosophies in terms of the game.

“Speaking on behalf of us, we’ve just got to be really, really good in terms of our work and how we go about it down there.

“They ask a question and that is why they are where they are.

“We’re going to have to be strong down there.”

Rovers have no fresh injury worries as they head to Kent with Reece James absent due to suffered a severe laceration to his leg against Bolton on Tuesday night.
