Moore has made no apologies for the manner in which he selects a side for each match, which sees individual form come second to an overall plan for how to win the game.

That however has not prevented players from coming to him so stake their claim - something he would never discourage.

“They all want to play,” Moore said.

“They say ‘gaffer, I want to play’ and I say ‘I know you want to play.’

“It’s good because it shows they do want that.

“I’d probably think it was strange if they didn’t want to play. It shows there’s hunger, desire, care and they want to do well for themselves and the club.

“They want that fix on a Saturday of playing a game. They want to let go and unleash it on a Saturday.

“They understand that at a certain time, even if the team wins with a specific XI, that I can change it as I see fit.

“The big thing for me is that when players do come in, they have to continue that form that the team has shown.

“We’ve seen that this season, which again is credit to the players.”

Moore says he made it clear from his arrival that he would select his side in such a manner and that has helped the group accept there will be times when they will not feature.

“It’s part of the culture,” he said. “It’s a group.

“These things have been implemented from day one. I think it’s been really important.

“When you deliver it as a group, there’s versatility in the group so when there’s a place in a position and someone might not conform to that, I feel I can play them in that role with the right responsibilities for the team.

“We’ve found here that it’s something that has worked and it’s something we’ll continue to do until the end of the season.”
