But the Rovers boss still hopes to have the vast majority of his targets signed up before the first game of the League One campaign next Saturday.

The Free Press understands Rovers are awaiting final confirmation on loans for two young forwards from Premier League clubs, which would take Moore a significant step closer to finalising his squad.

So far, Rovers have added five players to the squad but Moore says there is still plenty of work to do.

“I’m still some way away from the numbers we want to bring in,” he told the Free Press.

“We just want to add even more quality, even more depth, even more versatility to the team, looking at the fixtures and objectives ahead of us.”

The transfer window does not close until October 16 but Moore would ideally prefer to have his business completed well before then.

“When they’re in, and you’ve got in who you want, you can just focus and shut down everything else,” He said..

“While those targets are still out there, it takes a lot of energy and time to keep on the front foot with them.

“That is why you want to make sure your work is done. The quicker they’re in, the quicker they get used to the environment, the players, the culture, a new style and they understand what their roles and responsibilities are for the team.”

For now, he continues to follow up on initial agreements for loans as he awaits news from parent clubs on if and when they will allow their players to join up with Rovers.

“Things are in place and every single day it’s about picking up the phone and talking to the relevant people to see if those players we’ve identified, we can get them in,” he said.

“I’d love to get them in because we’re only a week away from the start of the season. The quicker we can get them in, the more at ease I will be.

“It’s about getting them where they need to be physically but also getting messages into them quickly because the season is upon us.”
