Richards made an impressive debut for Rovers on Saturday in the Carabao Cup defeat against Blackburn Rovers, showcasing his excellent passing range from the heart of midfield.
The 19-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at the AMEX Stadium as he embarks on his first season playing senior football on a regular basis.

“The course of the season will determine that,” Moore said.
“What we’ve tried to give Taylor is the chance to play football in a competitive division and a platform where he will have to develop physically and get his standards up to scratch.
“That will come playing games, training and working with the squad on a daily basis.
“And the next thing is he would have to show the consistency which would suggest he was working to a level and performing.”

After a first half where Rovers saw little of the ball, Richards played a big role in helping them get on the front foot after the break, with his accurate passing bringing wide players into the game.
“He’s a gifted player,” Moore said.
“I thought him and Madger worked really well.
“It showed their athleticism and speed, but also their technical ability on the ball. They’ve got clever passes in them that you saw can unlock the door.
“They’ve got the ability to run and drive with the ball.
“Taylor adds versatility, flair, speed, ability, technical ability, cleverness, great passing and wonderful feet. He possesses all those attributes.

“The quicker we get them in, the sooner we can get working with them and get them integrated in and get them doing the job we see them doing.”
