With the 2020/21 campaign likely to begin in mid to late September and unlikely to be extended much beyond the usual early May completion date due to international competition, it is expected that the season will be even more congested than usual.

“I’ve got an idea of how many I’d like to bring in and the size of the club I’d like,” Moore told the Free Press.

“It’s important to us with how we want to work.

“You need a squad of a certain size to deal with the course of the season.

“Because the season will be starting in late September, the fixtures are going to be challenging. We need a squad that can deal with that

“ Once the cup competitions are put in, we’re going to be playing at unexpected times that are out of our control. You need a squad to cope with those demands.

“I imagine they’ll look to sandwich a lot of fixtures in early because we don’t know what the winter months are going to bring in terms of weather which could knock off a load of games.

“You have to look at the squad within to make sure you get the right numbers in to deal with the demands.”

Moore believes the loan market will be key for his recruitment plans once again, after ending last season with six temporary signings on Rovers’ books.

And he reiterated his desire to pursue returns for some of last season’s loan crop.

“I think the loan market will be essential for us and where we’re at,” he said.

“We’ve touched base with the clubs. A lot of the loan players, their clubs are still playing.

“Once they know where they are with their season, they’ll be able to communicate with us.”
