When asked to pick out his top games of the season, the 1-1 draw at Coventry City immediately came to mind for the Rovers boss.

Ben Whiteman gave Rovers the lead just before the break and it looked as though they would hold on against strong pressure from a good Coventry side only for Amadou Bakayoko to equalise one minute from time.

“I really liked the game we played at St Andrews against Coventry,” Moore said.

“I thought that was an excellent game between two good footballing teams and it gave me a marker early in the season, and again at the Keepmoat Stadium.

“It was against a team that is fully playing their way out of the league, a footballing team with good players, a good system, good understanding.

“Going up against a team with a similar kind of philosophy, it’s good to go up against a team like that.

“It was a real benchmark, them being two or three years in [with manager Mark Robins] and us being five or six months.”

Moore says he has been pleased with plenty of performances this term from Rovers, particularly those that have seen his team show a different side to their game.

But in terms of their best all-round showing, he picked out the trip to London Road on Boxing Day.

“I think a standout performance was when we played Peterborough away,” he said.

“It was an excellent performance, fully committed. There was some excellent stuff and we got both aspects of the game right, in and out of possession.

“There’s been other games where we’ve had to manage and work out against the opposition. There’s been physical and bruising games that we’ve had to manage.

“There’s been games where we’ve had to play some good football.

“There’s been some good, stand-out moments, collectively as a group. There’s been some good stand-out moments individually where players have performed on the day.

“What we have tried to do is find a consistency as a group and I’ll always beat the drum towards that really.”
