Rovers were beaten 1-0 by Accrington Stanley on Wednesday night, ensuring they suffered a third straight loss for the first time this season.

While Moore was disappointed with the result, he was encouraged by a performance he felt was much-improved from the defeats at Fleetwood Town and Sunderland over the previous week.

“I never like losing games,” Moore said. “I don’t like losing one, nevermind two or three.

“But one thing I’ve always been consistent on is the work. It’s really important that we analyse the game.

“Looking back on it, what I’m most encouraged about is that the performance was more there. And more players got more minutes.

“I thought John Bostock and Scott Robertson were good. Josh Sims got minutes on the pitch, Taylor Richards got more. It’s all minutes that go towards them getting stronger and better.

“I’m disappointed with the result. I’m not happy with it at all. We’ve conceded a deflected goal but you want to get back into it and we didn’t do that.

“Now, we have to focus on Saturday and we have to build on that on Saturday.

“It was more us and it’s something to go with.

“On another night, some of the chances we have we score. We’ve worked their keeper, and on another night we get the rub of the green.”

Paul Smyth’s goal just before half time proved to be the difference between the two sides and helped Accrington join Rovers in League One’s top six.

Moore believes it would be unfair to place the defeat to Accrington in the same category as those against Fleetwood and Sunderland.

But he wants to see further improvement against another promotion rival Hull City on Saturday.

“They were uncharacteristic performances from us,” he said. “We prepared the same as we did during the tremendous run of games.

“We just need to get back to the basics and keep working hard. We’ll continue to do that.

“Whatever little time I’ve got to work with them, we’ll take that before Saturday.”
