The Free Press understands the 23-year-old is a player Rovers have considered a move for over the past week and have examined the likelihood of being able to secure a season-long loan.
Speculation on Thursday afternoon suggested that a deal had been agreed between Rovers and the Saints but this is understood to be premature.

Hide AdAnd Moore is prepared for even more speculation as he looks to add two players to his squad ahead of Friday’s 5pm deadline.
“There’s Josh Sims, there’s Robbie Gotts, there’s Niall Ennis, there’s Max Sheaf, there’s Nathan Broadhead, there’s Tyreece Shade - I can give you all sorts of players that have been linked with the football club and will continue to be,” he said.
“There’s all sorts of names circling Doncaster Rovers at the moment because of where we’re at.”
Moore’s primary goal before the window closes is signing a central midfielder and we understand the final details of an agreement with a top flight youngster are being agreed.

“A day is a long time in football and we’re trying to get those bodies in.
“The bodies that we are trying to get in, there’s competition for them.
“Why it always boils down to the last minute, it beggars belief.
