The 39-year-old came off the bench at half time and was excellent after the break as Rovers ran out 4-1 winners.

It was the most significant stretch of game time Coppinger has been handed in the league this season. And he offered a reminder of his evergreen abilities as he helped Rovers control the game in the second half.

“We needed that bit of composure and I felt he brought that in the second half,” Moore said.

“Some of his touches, the vision he has, the experience he has to the younger boys. They all look up to him and we all respect Copps.

“He looked like he enjoyed that second half.

“It’s nice when you can call upon someone with Copps’ wealth of experience to step into a game like that.

“It was by no means over at that stage. We had to go and get the three points.

“And I thought he played a huge part in it.”

The Rovers boss says Coppinger can expect more game time as Rovers enter a busy October which will bring eight games in 28 days.
