Darren Moore says he sees no reason why Max Watters cannot earn more opportunities at Doncaster Rovers.

The young forward made an impressive appearance off the bench in the New Years Day win over on-form Oxford United.

Tasked with using his pace and power to push up the pitch, threaten on the counter attack and relieve pressure on Rovers, Watters performed well over 30 minutes.

And boss Moore hopes the appearance whetted his appetite for more.

“Max has been one that we brought back in from loan,” Moore said

“He’s got the size and speed to be there. We’ve kept him in the group and slowly tried to integrate him in.

“That one will do him the world of good in terms of the volume and capacity of the game. He’s played in a top, top game.

“For one so young, hopefully from a psychological point of view, it’ll wet his lips to think I want more of this.

“I hope it does. With the right attitude I don’t see why he can’t have more of it.”

The 20-year-old arrived at Rovers in the summer of 2018 as Darren Ferguson’s final signing, joining from non-league Ashford United.

He has had loan spells with Grantham Town and Mickleover Sports, whom he joined in September.

Watters made his Rovers debut off the bench in October’s Leasing.com Trophy clash with Manchester United U21s earlier this season and has since featured in three league outings.
