But he was not fully satisfied with the performances as he felt there were missed opportunities for his side.

When asked whether he felt Saturday’s victory saw Rovers at their most effective in unlocking an opposition, Moore told the Free Press: “Yeah, but I thought we could have been even more effective.

“To share a bit of what I said to them at half time, I said we’ve found some wonderful pockets of space and our lines of approach have been very good but I just feel we could have been more effective.

“Even though what we did was effective, I felt there was even more opportunities for us.

“We’ll have a look at it again and analyse it.

“In terms of the first half, there was some wonderful passages of play. We did break them down at times and our flair and influential players at the top end of the pitch really came to light.

“They needed to as well because Gillingham have a stubborn rear guard and they’d not conceded in their last couple of games.

“We knew they were solid and difficult.

“But I think it’s another feather in our cap because they’re a tough team, a top team.”

Having favoured handing his players a few days off in the week rather than implementing his usual meticulous work at the training ground, Moore was delighted to see such a performance from his side which required them to deliver on a strong tactical plan.

“I gave them a few more days off where usually I would get them in working - and we’d work on things like that,” he said.

“Maybe that could have been a bit of the rustiness in it but I felt it was important to give the players and the staff that bit of a break after the week before.

“But we came in and worked again excellently over Thursday and Friday and they put that into the game.

“With it, we’re really pleased with the three points.

“It was about resting and recuperating to bring them back.”
