Darren Moore calls on Doncaster Rovers to become problem-solvers

Rovers have had issues dealing with sides that have attempted to restrict their play this season, with last weekend’s visitors Sunderland the latest to succeed in shutting them down for spells.

Rovers improved after the break with some adjustments made to their approach for the second half.

But Moore wants the players to be able to act and find solutions for themselves when things aren’t going their way.

“Without a doubt,” he said. “Any manager would want their players to do that.

“It’s all part and parcel of learning for us.

“It never stops.

“They got a strong grip on the game and then just maintained it.

“We made one or two tweaks at half time and the second half was much better.”

Moore is expecting a more open affair when Rovers host on-form Blackpool on Tuesday.

The visitors have won their last five matches in all competitions and have found their scoring touch in recent weeks, including a 2-1 win over league leaders Peterborough United at the weekend.

Moore has warned his players of the threat Neil Critchley’s side will pose.

“The front four are excellent at the level,” he said.

“They’re scoring goals, they’re creating goals.

“They pose a real big threat. We know the threat they carry is a huge one.

“They’ve got some very good players and experienced players at this level that will give any defence a run for their money, both individually and collectively.

“We know they’re right in form, their confidence is high and they’re a dangerous team.

“They’re in good form and confidence.

“Credit to them for the way they dispatched Peterborough on Saturday with a great showing.

“Knowing what we know about them, I’d say it’ll be an open one.”

Rovers have no fresh injury worries heading into Tuesday’s game, nor will they welcome back any players such as Jon Taylor or Madger Gomes.

Moore confirmed Taylor Richards would be in a position to start the match if called upon to do so.
