Moore confirmed his desire to sign the Belgian winger, who joined Rovers on loan in January but managed only one senior appearance before the League One season was ended by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lokilo was released by parent club Crystal Palace last month after five years in the capital.

Prior to the release of the 21-year-old, Moore contacted Palace’s head of U23 development Mark Bright to inquire about Lokilo’s availability.

And the Rovers boss believes there is plenty of development in Lokilo should he return to the Keepmoat.

“We’d like to do it if it is right,” Moore told the Free Press. “We’d like that.

“Jason has got something to offer us as a football club.

“The type of player he is, the style of play we have here, he’s someone we could utilise.

“Everyone saw a small glimpse of him and there is more to come.

“I put the call into Palace. Hopefully over the next seven to ten days we can make some more developments on that.

While Lokilo would not be drawn too much on his future, earlier in the year he admitted he was enjoying life at Rovers.

As he was released by Palace without being offered a new contract, Rovers would not be forced to pay compensation to the Premier League side should they sign him.
