Amos has started the last two games for Rovers in Reece James’ absence and is battling to retain his place with the more experienced full back poised to return.

The youngster has credited the defenders he has lined up alongside for not only aiding his good performances in the wins over Wycombe Wanderers and MK Dons, but also for helping to prepare him for the step up to senior level over many months.

“I’ve learned so much over the last few years,” he said.

“Obviously it’s different personnel to last season, with players and the manager.

“For me it’s been about understanding different managers’ style of play, different players’ style of play.

“Luckily I’ve had Tom Anderson, Joe Wright and Brad Halliday at the back with me.

“Tom Anderson has been different class this season. To have him at the side of you at the back is just a massive bonus and he helps you feel so relaxed and comfortable.”

The 20-year-old is pleased to have repaid the faith shown in him by Rovers boss Darren Moore.

“With Reece James being injured, I knew I was in the eyeline and the gaffer told me so,” he said.

“All I had to do was keep working hard in training, and proving that I can be a first team player he can rely on.

“He put his trust in me and it’s worked.”
