Here is how Rovers supporters reacted to the defeat on social media.

@pgjackson1: Missed Anderson couldn’t defend properly and it killed us on the day, but I remain optimistic for the season. Fleetwood and Sunderland always difficult for us, need to bounce back on Wednesday

@JohnLeslieCoyl1: I don't know why Sunderland's approach came as such a surprise with two wingers and a big centre forward. The defending was woeful. Even so, we created more chances than we did on Tuesday. Rovers tend to do poorly in February anyway.

@SteveGr41417727: Just giving the other clubs a false sense of security.....onwards and upwards!

@stavrosjamiemat: Just didn’t look after the ball and gave away possession far too easily but onto Wednesday now

@Orrie2014: a dose of reality to those thinking we will walk the league based on a few good signings. Weve not played well since coming back after Christmas other than poss Wimbledon. Too many changes affecting the team. Get back to basics, defend, pass move and I'd hope we make the poffs

@MasterDanthrax: It’s done, break the loosing streak. move forward! Learn

@garysouter3: Absolutely frustrating. Missed big Tom, I think Bostock and Bogle can be decent players for us and it was great to see Sims back on the pitch. We never beat Sunderland (or Fleetwood) so can we write this week off. Beat Accrington and it’s game on again

@Rands89: We looked terrified from the off. Gave them too much respect and rightfully got punished. Fair result, onto the next one.

@Bessiered: Wouldnt have happened if big Tom had been playing. You could argue that over the 90 we were the better team. It was the McGeady/Wyke show today, but as I say even if the crosses still came in Wyke wouldnt have had the freedom of the pen box if Tom had played!!

@MattPoskitt: Not the worst in the world. 2 big things let us down, first of all we needed to double up on McGeady, we didn’t. Second you can’t give someone like Wyke 2 metres of space inside 8 yards. Bet he couldn’t believe his luck.
