The EFL season will run until the weekend of May 8, with the play-off finals returning to their usual slot of Spring Bank Holiday weekend.

It will mean a much more congested season. Last term, seven rounds of fixtures in League One were played prior to September 12.

Confirmation of dates for the first ties in the Carabao Cup and Leasing.com Trophy have yet to be confirmed. Some reports suggested consideration was being given to holding ties in each competition in the week prior to the league campaign commencing.

If that is not the case, it will further add to the congestion. Last season, two rounds in the Carabao Cup and at least one group fixture in the Leasing.com Trophy were played prior to September 12.

Fixtures are currently being compiled and will be released in due course.

The final regular season matches in League One were played on March 10, leaving a six month gap between campaigns, excluding the play-offs which were won by Wycombe Wanderers earlier this month.
